Ascension’s teen group is a fast growing collection of middle and high schoolers from Ascension and other churches who are interested in fellowship, fun, and faith! Our program for both groups rotates through recurring themes each week and dinner is provided at no cost! Events include: Game Night, Prayer and Bible Study Night, Off-Campus Night, and Life Skills and Service Night. We also offer monthly weekend outings and participate in many service projects and Diocese youth events. All are welcome to come out for fun with the youth.
Ascension’s Middle School program (grades 6-8) strives to create a relaxed program designed to fit the needs and interests of young people and expose them to the richness of our tradition and community. In 7th and 8th grade there is a strong emphasis on service learning, questions and lively discussion. How do we as Christians learn to be Christ’s disciples in the world…and what should we be doing? We ask lots of questions of each other and work together to find answers. Middle School Youth meets in Room 104 on Sundays from 10:15-11:00 am and in the Youth Room on Wednesday nights at 6:30 pm.
Ascension’s High School program (grades 9-12) encourages our young adults to focus on the most important aspects of our Christian heritage: Scripture, Prayer, and Fellowship. Our High School class meets for Bible study, learns and practices different forms of prayer and invites adult parishioners and guests to share their stories of faith with the class. High School Kids Meet in the Youth Room on Sundays at 10:15-11:00 am and from 6:00-8:00 pm.
Ascension offers a yearly youth confirmation class for High School kids interested in making a personal and mature commitment to Christ and the Church. Ascension’s youth confirmation program uses a curriculum pulled from various Episcopal resources. To add an experiential level to our curriculum, Ascension’s youth confirmands are strongly encouraged to participate in Ascension’s annual mission trip. This year’s youth confirmation class will being on Sunday, January 22, with a youth-parent luncheon in the library after the 11:15 am service.
