FISH Hospitality Pantries
For more than 25 years Ascension-led FISH Hospitality Pantries has been providing food assistance to families in Knoxville who are low on food and low on money to buy their own food. Currently we operate four food relief pantries in Knoxville, including a pantry located at The Church of the Ascension. Together these pantries distribute over 12,000 food packages each month to families in need.More than 70 volunteers from the Ascension are joined by volunteers from many other churches making this Ascension-led ministry a truly inter-faith effort. Additional volunteers are needed at the Ascension pantry to help answer the FISH Hotline the 3rd and 4th Thursdays of each month, or go out in teams of two persons to deliver food bags to the homes of callers who cannot pick up their food. Volunteers are needed at our three neighborhood-based Hospitality Pantries in East, South, and Northwest Knoxville. Volunteers at these pantries greet our guests who come in for food, assist people in selecting their food items and repack bulk items (such as dry pinto beans).
Volunteers may also choose to work on special projects such as Kids Boost Program and driving our trucks to pick up food donations.
