Purpose of Ministry: Coordinate participation of other lay ministries before the service beings.

These  are members of the Parish who serve during worship services to coordinate participation of other lay ministries to insure a smooth and meaningful worship experience. The main duties are to make sure that all scheduled Lay Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, and Acolytes are present, to provide substitutes for any who are absent, to verify that the appointed readings and hymns are correct, that the ushers have selected Oblation Bearers, and that any special requirements of a Service are coordinated.

Number of Hours Expected to Be Needed Each Month: 1 Sunday every 3 months

Meeting Requirements: No regular meetings

Where are  Ministry Services Provided: Church

Explanation: The Chancel Master program is designed to relieve the Clergy from worrying about the logistics of a worship service so they can concentrate on their other responsibilities.  Chancel Masters are responsible for coordinating the resolution of any emergencies that might occur during a service (e.g. medical emergencies). This is a wonderful learning opportunity about the Church.
