When those outside our church family find themselves in crisis, Ascension provides multiple opportunities for you to help or for you to receive help. Through our long-term commitment to support the compassionate work of FISH Hospitality Pantries, Family Promise, Community Chest, and many others, our service and outreach ministries provide shelter, meals, and support to the homeless, collect toys, clothing and life essentials for struggling families, and share friendship and compassion for those looking for a more positive path in their life. If you would like to volunteer or donate to one of these ministries, please contact the communications office to find out more information on how to make a difference in our community here in Knoxville, TN, and in the world.
Community Outreach Ministries
Community Chest aims to support the Community Chest Store by facilitating the donation and delivery of toys, clothing, and household items, as well assist in coordinating off-site collection of items. Community Chest also gathers on the first Saturday of the month in the church parking lot beginning at 10:00 am to collect donations. For more information, contact Jim Wright.
Family Promise of Knoxville unites with the interfaith community to provide non-emergency housing to families with children who have lost their homes. The mission of Family Promise is “To help homeless and low income families achieve sustainable independence” and our vision is a community in which every family has a home, a livelihood and a chance to build a better future together. For more information, contact Ann O’Connor.
FISH Hospitality Pantries
FISH Hospitality Pantries, directed by Jim Wright, is a non-profit volunteer based organization that feeds over 8,000 families in the Knox County area. Volunteers are always needed for bagging and delivery. If you would like to volunteer for FISH Hospitality Pantries, or find out more information, contact Jim Wright, email@example.com.
Mentors/Friends to Homeless Men

The Prison Ministry provides re-entry services to individuals being released from state prisons, beginning with getting to know each other starting six months prior to release and continuing support for six months following release. For more information, contact Bob Wadley.
In addition, Ascension’s service ministries reach well beyond our borders. International service ministries in Bolivia have built new places of worship and provided much needed medical supplies.
