Parish Notices

Week of February 7, 2016

“Welcome to Ascension!” If you are new to the Church of the Ascension, please don’t leave until you stop by the Church’s welcome counter in the church foyer. We have a gift bag for you that includes a copy of the latest Church newsletter, plus a few goodies. Long-time Ascension parishioners will be on-hand to answer any questions you might have and to explain how you can become more involved, should you be interested. If you would like to have your name added to the email or street mailing list, simply fill out a pew card (on the back of the pew in front of you), and drop it into this morning’s offering plate.

Coffee Hour  Ready for good food, fellowship, and a time to catch up with your fellow Ascension parishioners? Head down to the Parish Hall after the 11:15 a.m. service to catch a bite to eat and meet fellow Ascension members.

Newcomers! A special dinner in your honor will be held on Friday, February 19th, at 6:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Come meet other new members of Ascension, as well as several long-time members. Please RSVP by Tuesday, February 16th, by emailing or calling Cathy Wadley at or 588-0589 ext. 220.

Also, the high school winter retreat is coming up quickly, and there are still a couple spots available! Contact Chelsea as soon as possible to make sure you get a spot. The retreat will take place February 12th-15th, and we’ll be staying in a cabin outside of Gatlinburg. You don’t want to miss this incredible weekend to make new friends and grow closer to God!

Mardi Gras is Tuesday, and the high school youth are a key part of the evening. Make plans to come out and help serve the meal together! This is a great way to spend time with friends and to support our church’s mission work in Bolivia.

There will be no middle school youth on Wednesday in observance of Ash Wednesday.

Members of the Boys and Girls’ Choir will participate in a massed Treble Festival this afternoon at 4 p.m. at Church Street United Methodist Church. All are invited.
