Holy Week 2018

During Holy Week, a number of meetings and events that regularly occur will be canceled/postponed. Morning prayer will continue through Holy Week, but Evening Prayer will be canceled for the evening services. Sign-ups for worship volunteers and leadership are available in the parish office.

Palm Sunday, March 25
8:00 & 10:30 am
Palm Sunday features a liturgy of the palms and a reading of
the passion narrative from the Gospel according to Mark. Please note, no Sunday School for children or adults will be observed on this Sunday.
Quiet Eucharist, March 26 & 27
5:45 pm
Monday and Tuesday of Holy Week are the quiet beginnings of the week.
We mark these days with a simple and contemplative service of quiet Eucharist.
Tenebrae, March 28
7:00 pm
A service of diminishing light, Tenebrae prefaces the coming passion of
Jesus Christ while acknowledging our foreknowledge of his resurrection.
Maundy Thursday, March 29
7:00 pm
Featuring a communal meal in the Nave, Maundy Thursday celebrates
Jesus’ institution of Eucharist through a light Mediterranean meal in the midst
of a service of Holy Eucharist.
Good Friday, March 30
A simple, quiet service in observance of the crucifixion.
This service will last approximately one hour.
Holy Saturday, March 31
Children’s Easter Egg Hunt

Bring your kids and their empty Easter baskets to celebrate Easter weekend
and to hunt for Easter eggs across the Ascension campus.
The Great Easter Vigil

The Great Easter Vigil awaits the resurrection of Christ and celebrates the global tradition of the spreading of the light of news of Christ’s resurrection.
Easter Sunday, April 1
7:30, 9:00 & 11:15 am
Celebrate Jesus’ triumphant resurrection from the dead with a service at 7:30 am and a full choral Eucharist at 9:00 and 11:15 am. Please note, no Sunday School for children or adults will be observed on this Sunday. Make sure to bring a bell from home to ring at the 9:00 or 11:15 am services. The Rt. Rev. Brian Lee Cole will preside at our Easter services this year.
