Parish Notices

Week of April 10, 2016

The white roses on the altar are given today in celebration of the births of Brandt Robinson, son of Chris and Ashley Robinson; and Henry Davis, son of Matt and Rachel, and grandson of Anita and Clay Davis.

We extend our sympathy to Carolyn Moser on the passing of her husband, Harold Moser; and to Lynn White on the passing of her sister, Sue Elliot.

The next TnT-Tween Group meeting will be April 20th from 6:30-8:00 p.m. This event is open to kids in Grades 3-5. We will do some Earth Day activities about being good stewards! Dinner is served.

Party on the Pavement is today from 4:30 to 6:00 pm! Kids in 5th grade and under are invited to ride their bikes, trikes, skates, or scooters! Helmets are required.  The side parking lot will be blocked off for them to ride.  Parents and grandparents are invited to come sit and relax while the kids play and visit with their church family.

High School confirmation class will meet today at 12:20 p.m. in the library. Lunch will be included.

High School Youth group will meet in the youth room from 6:00-8:00 tonight. We’ll have dinner together, a Bible discussion, and fun games!

Middle School Youth, come out on Wednesday from 6:30-8:00. There will be pizza, and we’ll start a special series called “Jesus at the Beach.” We’ll also go outdoors for games, so wear comfortable clothing and shoes!

If you are a graduating High School senior, please let Chelsea (chelsea@knoxvilleascension.org) know your name and school by today so that you can be included in next week’s Senior Sunday events including the Senior Adoption!

The Ascension Trekkers on a new adventure! On Saturday, April 16, the Trekkers will do an approximately 7 mile hike that is rated moderate primarily because of the length and creek crossings. The hike will take us from Jakes Creek in the Elkmont area to Meigs Mountain to Curry Mountain and ending at Metcalf Bottoms and the Little Greenbrier Schoolhouse. One writer says this is a good family hike. We will leave at 9 am from the church parking lot.  Contact Emily Vreeland for questions and to RSVP (470-2518 or emilyvree@aol.com).

Ready for a dinner with your parish family?  Julie Teglas has a great dinner in store for you. The Wednesday night parish supper will feature chicken enchiladas, sautéed zucchini and peppers, salad, bread, and dessert. Sign up on the reception counter in the parish office.

FOMA features a hometown favorite!  Friends of Music and the Arts will host Mark Hughes, principal trumpet of the Houston Symphony, on Sunday, April 24, at 5:00 p.m.

Need to get your story, event, or news published?  Drop by Andrew Morehead’s office, email him (andrew@knoxvilleascension.org), or call to talk about all the channels available to you!  Note: the May/June Parish Paper deadline is this Tuesday, April 12, by 5:00 p.m.  Please send all submission by email or hard copy.

If you are an avid Play Bridge or Beginner’s Bridge participant, please note that this coming Monday’s session is back at Ascension.  Thank you for accommodating our guests from Family Promise.

Please keep these individuals in your prayers this week:

Carla Backus, Carolyn Moser, Margaret Nelson, Lynn White
