Honoring Service through Ministry ~ Join us at both the 10:00 am service and the Coffee Hour afterwards in honoring Faye Beach as we recognize her long term of service to Stephen Ministry.  Faye was commissioned as a Stephen Minister in 2008, and since then she has served as a Stephen Minister, peer group facilitator, and, after attending a leadership conference in 2011, has co-led the Leadership Team with Kathy Ambrose.  We greatly appreciate Faye’s eight years of service.

Thank you, Andrew Morehead, for creating this summer’s bulletin format! Although we will return to the longer format beginning August 1, this summer’s abbreviated format will offer you the opportunity to engage the Book of Common Prayer in a new way, especially if you are not familiar with it. This morning, following the 10 am service, after you’ve had a chance to get some coffee, Rob Gieselmann will offer a primer on the Eucharistic rite found in the prayer book and used during all Sunday services. This short class (20-30 minutes) will be held in one of the transepts in the church.

Date Night is this Friday, June 3, 6:00-9:00 pm! Register your kids for Date Night fun and pizza dinner at nursery@knoxvilleascenion.org.

Save the Date! June 12th is Extreme Summer Splash! Bring your swimsuits, beach towels, beach chairs, and goggles and get ready for a splash down. This great summer event is for ALL ages…so stick around after the 10:00 am service for some lunch and lots of water fun!

Summer Livin’ at Ascension

Each Sunday this Summer is themed whimsically to make church and especially coffee hour a fun opportunity for you to socialize with your church family in a relaxed and summer-lazy atmosphere. The themes vary widely and include meaningful themes like Peanut Butter to raise money for FISH, and Dog Days of Summer with Fido joining the rest of us for church.

We kick the Summer series off with Hat Sunday and our Bishop’s (George Young’s) annual visit next Sunday, with confirmation, and a lovely reception following. During announcements on June 5, you will be invited to don your favorite whimsical hat, or use one that will be provided, to welcome George (who will wear his own whimsical mitre).

June 12th Extreme Summer Splash after the 10:00 am service.
