The Search for the 5th Bishop of the Diocese of East Tennessee

The Diocese Needs Your Input!

Sunday, August 21, 3pm, Church of the Good Shepherd

5409 Jacksboro Pike, Knoxville, TN 37928

You are invited to attend and participate in a holy conversation hosted by the Search & Nominating Committee (SNC). As we begin the formal process of searching for our fifth Diocesean Bishop, the SNC needs your input on where we are as a diocese (our strengths and challenges, our assessment of our recent history, our hopes and dreams for the future) and what qualities we would like to see in our next bishop. Members of the SNC will be present to update you on the work of the Committee and what the process looks like going forward through the next year. We hope to engage as many parishioners throughout the diocese for accurate representation. Every voice is important as we seek God’s wisdom and guidance in this process. More information on the next page!

We need your photos!

The Search & Nominating Committee is looking for a variety of photographs to use on the bishop search website. To this end, we invite you to submit your favorite photographs that capture life in our diocese.

They may be of parish events, photos taken during services or ordinations, or around your church property. Photos of children (and adults too!) at church, camp, Vacation Bible School, or Grace Point would also be great. Photos of our beautiful mountains, lakes, streams, city or rural life—anything showing the beauty and diversity of the landscape in East Tennessee are also welcome.

Photos need to be of high resolution. By submitting photos to the committee, you are giving permission for their use. You may send them to our email address at bishopsearch@dioet.org or add them to our Dropbox photo file at the following link: www.dropbox.com/request/7gpAcR6GQBEuw3Vey90m

A Prayer for the Bishop Search

Most gracious God, who gave your only Son to be our Good Shepherd: Look favorably upon your Church, and guide the hearts and minds of those who shall choose a bishop to be a pastor to this Diocese, that we may receive a faithful leader, who will go with us out in the world, making disciples who make a difference; and nurture in your servants who wrestle with this call a spirit of wisdom and confidence, joy and humility; through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
