There are many groups at Church of the Ascension. These groups vary in size, scope, and purpose. We hope that any of these groups may resonate with your own mission and spirituality. If you feel that you are called to a ministry that may be underrepresented, give us a call at (865) 588-0589 or email us at We’d love to chat about finding the right match for you.

Play Bridge! and Beginners’ Bridge

This lively and dedicated group of bridge players meets every Monday at 1:00 pm. Play Bridge! is for intermediate to seasoned bridge players and meets in the New Transept of the Parish Hall. For those wanting to learn how to play Bridge, or who aren’t quite ready to dive into the deep end of the pool, Beginners’ Bridge offers a chance to start in comfortably and meets in Room 105.

Foyer Supper Club!

This fall, the Foyer Supper Club Program is making a fresh start! Sign-up at the reception counter in the parish office to join the supper club beginning this fall with a dinner kickoff. Foyer Supper Club groups are primarily social gatherings of small groups of people within the church. By signing-up, you will be placed in a supper club group, and your group will meet every 4-6 weeks through the “school” year, either at homes or in restaurants (or both). Your foyer group will have the opportunity to decide whether to include a prayerful or spiritual element to the group, but mostly joining a supper club group will provide you the opportunity to get to know other members of Ascension. Contact for more information.

LAMBS Pet Ministry

Formed almost a decade ago, LAMBS’ mission is to support stewardship of our animal companions by offering assistance for their care to their humans in need. LAMBS offers a pet prayer list for church members and their immediate family, pastoral support for pet owners by our clergy, pet foods and funding drives for community-based pantries, animal programs and services, as well as special events for pet owners and their animals including Ascension’s annual ‘Blessing of the Animals,’ a service that opens the doors for our pets to attend church and be blessed. Pet memorials are accepted and contributed to the Pantry for Feeding Pets using space generously provided by FISH Hospitality Pantries. LAMBS also provides transport assistance to parishioners unable to transport their pet(s) to veterinary services, and temporary assistance to parishioners incapacitated and unable to care for their pets. Contact Christopher Hogin,, with any requests for information or for pastoral care needs.
