Ascension’s youth group consists of teens in grades 6-12 who are interested in fellowship, fun, and faith! We also offer occasional weekend outings and participate in service projects and Diocesan youth events such as New Beginnings and Happening. All are welcome, all are affirmed, and all will be loved by our community and loved by God. For more information on AYG programs please contact the Director of Youth Ministries, GiGi Logan at

Ascension offers a yearly youth confirmation class for teens interested in making a personal and mature commitment to Christ and the Church. Ascension’s youth confirmation program uses a curriculum pulled from various Episcopal resources. To add an experiential level to our curriculum, Ascension’s youth confirmands are strongly encouraged to participate in Ascension Youth’s annual mission trip and as a High School youth attend Happening, a diocesan youth-led spiritual retreat. For more information on youth confirmation classes, please contact GiGi Logan at

Ascension’s WAY program strives to serve as a weekly faith check-in within our youth community. Our programming allows space for formation and fellowship, while continuing to build a firm faith foundation with a focus on biblical literacy. A WAY meeting starts with dinner provided by one of our volunteer Dinner Angels, is followed by faith formation programming, and concludes with sharing of the community’s prayer requests and some social time or games. WAY meets weekly in the Youth Room on Wednesday nights during the program year from 6:30-8:00 pm and welcomes teens of all ages.

Sunday Fundays is an opportunity to put our faith to practice. Our program rotates through recurring themes and dinner is provided by our Dinner Angels at no cost! Events include: Game Night, Prayer and Bible Study Night, Off-Campus events, and Life Skills and Service Night. Sunday Fundays meet in the Youth Room once monthly on Sunday evenings during the program year from 5:00-7:00 pm.

Tween Youth Group meets twice a month for fun, formation, and fellowship. Activities range from movies to Bible lessons, service projects to special outings.

Ascension’s Sunday morning education hour for all teens in grades 6-12 meets together in Room 104 on Sundays at 9:15-10:15 am. We focus on ensuring our teens have familiarity with the Episcopal catechism as well as prayer practices and other religious knowledge.

The Ascension Youth in grades 8-12 are invited to participate in an annual domestic mission trip to various locations throughout the country in the summer. Our planned trip for 2020 will be to Wilmington, NC with a focus on hurricane relief.

Also in June and July our youth meet weekly for Milkshake Mondays every Monday from 7:00-8:00 pm (except during the youth mission trip) at the Cookout on Cedar Bluff Rd. (321 Cedar Bluff Rd.) for the sharing of friendship, milkshakes, and laughter.
