WORSHIP: WHAT TO EXPECT
Church of the Ascension welcomes you, whoever you are and wherever you are on your spiritual journey, to join in our worship experience.
8:00 Holy Eucharist Rite I — This early service is quieter and more introspective with minimal music and more traditional language to create a contemplative atmosphere. In a busy, cluttered life, the 8:00 am service provides space, comfort, and a new pace of experiencing Christ.
10:30 Holy Eucharist Rite II — This service is the exemplary Episcopal worship service that features many engaging sung and spoken elements. This service typically has complete liturgy printed in the bulletin. Our 10:30 am service also offers Children’s church for children ages four through 5th grade.
All are welcome to receive Communion. Instructions for how to partake in Communion can be found here under our FAQ, as well as in our Sunday service bulletin you receive during service. Please remember that there is no “right” way to receive Communion but know that God welcomes you.
9:15 Sunday School — Between our two services we have a Sunday School hour at 9:15 am with classes for Children, Youth, and Adults. All classes are open to everyone! Drop in one Sunday at a time for any class or join for the length of a series being offered. More info can be found on our Christian Education page.
5:00 Celtic Worship Service — The first Sunday of every month we offer an evening Celtic Service drawn from the liturgical traditions of early Celtic Christians and is a quiet, meditative worship experience. For more information on the Celtic Service, please see our Celtic Worship Service page here.
We invite you to explore which service or services may best fit your needs. While there is no dress code, we know dressing for the occasion can be a challenge when visiting a new place. Guests and members find a broad variety of styles comfortable for worship, from business to dressy casual, and casual in the summer months. A number of greeters and ushers will be available to answer any questions you may have while visiting Ascension. Clergy will be present at the exits to answer questions you may have.
